Promotion terms on Microsoft’s pages: 1 July to 31 December 2026, annual commitment, first year only, existing customers with an eligible Business plan, not available on trials. Budget year two at list price. For individuals, Microsoft 365 Personal is AU$159 a year, Family AU$179 and Premium AU$329; Copilot Pro was not listed on the Australian page we checked.

Add-on or bundle? The maths most pages skip.

At the prices above, a business on Standard or Premium pays less by switching to the matching “with Copilot” plan than by keeping its plan and adding Copilot, even at the promotional add-on price:

  • Business Standard AU$21.00 + Copilot Business AU$26.91 = AU$47.91, compared with Business Standard with Copilot at AU$35.20.
  • Business Premium AU$32.90 + Copilot Business AU$26.91 = AU$59.81, compared with Business Premium with Copilot at AU$47.90.

Our arithmetic, per user per month, excluding GST. The add-on still matters if you are on Business Basic or Apps for business, or only want Copilot for some staff. Licences are per user, so you can licence part of your team. Switching a subscription mid-term has its own rules; confirm them with Microsoft or your partner first.

Copilot cost, year one: $3,229.20, excluding GST.

Year two at list price: $3,768.00.

Your current plan for the same people: $2,520.00 a year, so $5,749.20 in total in year one.

The first-year promotional price applies to annual commitments started by 31 December 2026. Year two is shown at list price.

Do you qualify?

According to Microsoft’s licensing page, Copilot Business can be added to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard, Premium, Apps for business and Teams Essentials, up to 300 licences per tenant. The enterprise add-on works with Microsoft 365 E3, E5, F1 and F3, Office 365 E1, E3 and E5, and a range of other plans; E7 already includes it. Consumer plans cannot be used for a business tenant. Copilot in Teams needs a Teams licence.

Free Copilot Chat or the paid licence?

Copilot Chat gives web-grounded chat, file upload and image generation with enterprise data protection, plus some work content in supported Outlook scenarios. The paid licence reasons across your emails, meetings, chats and files, puts Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote with priority access, and includes agents such as Researcher and Analyst. Microsoft describes Chat’s Outlook access differently on different pages; we have followed its most recent help page. Both respect your existing Microsoft 365 permissions, so check sharing settings before rollout.

Copilot Cowork, explained.

Microsoft describes Cowork as a feature that carries out tasks for you: you describe what you need, and it sends emails, schedules meetings, creates documents and posts in Teams, asking you to approve each action first. It became generally available to Microsoft 365 Copilot customers worldwide on 16 June 2026.

  • Licence: needs a paid Copilot licence.
  • Cost: billed in Copilot Credits on top of the licence. Microsoft quotes US$0.01 per credit pay-as-you-go; we found no Australian dollar rate.
  • Access: off until an admin turns on usage-based billing and sets a spending policy. Microsoft notes that a spending policy also grants access, even with a small limit.
  • Data: Microsoft commits to storing Cowork prompts and responses in Australia for tenants based here. It does not say where processing happens.

Building your own agents? A Copilot Studio capacity pack is AU$299.30 a month for 25,000 credits, excluding GST. See our Copilot Studio course guide.

Buying and cancelling licences.

  • Where to buy: directly in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, through a Microsoft reseller (Cloud Solution Provider partner), or through Microsoft’s enterprise agreements for large organisations.
  • Partner prices: Microsoft says resellers set their own pricing and bill you directly, so a partner’s price can differ from the list price.
  • Cancelling: Microsoft’s Australian FAQ says monthly subscriptions can be cancelled without penalty, annual commitments paid monthly may incur penalties, and annual commitments paid upfront are not refunded. There is a 7-day window for a prorated refund after purchase.
  • Usage charges: some AI features, including Cowork and agents, can add charges beyond your licence fees.

Who can help with rollout.

These listings publish Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness, rollout or adoption services, checked 18 to 22 October 2026. Alphabetical, not ranked. None of the evidence we hold shows Microsoft licence reselling, so ask whether a provider sells licences or only delivers services. We have not verified partner status claims with Microsoft.
