What they charge.
On 25 October 2026 we checked the websites of the 808 businesses then listed for published prices. 397 prices from 115 businesses give these middle starting prices: $2,500 for an assessment or strategy, $3,500 for a build or automation, $1,800 for a team workshop, $1,350 a month for ongoing support and $200 an hour. These are entry prices for each business’s smallest offer, not typical project totals.
How much evidence they publish.
- We matched the business behind 312 listings (33%) to the Australian Business Register.
- 161 listings (17%) have client feedback we could attribute: 151 independent accounts and 182 testimonials published by the providers themselves.
- Most businesses publish service descriptions but little you can check independently: named clients, dated projects and outside reviews are the exception.
What this means if you’re hiring.
- Pick the job first. Most businesses offer many kinds of help, so a long service list tells you little. Ask what they have done that looks like your job.
- Local isn’t essential, but ask. Plenty of good providers work remotely. If you want someone on site, check where they actually are.
- Ask for prices and references. Most won’t publish them, so ask for a written quote and two clients you can speak to. Our guide to choosing an AI consultant has the questions and a free tender template.
Method and limits.
- What’s counted: the 951 businesses listed in this directory. That is not every AI business in Australia, and counts describe our listings, not market share.
- Where the facts come from: each business’s own website and public records, checked between 18 October 2026 and 25 October 2026. Prices were checked on 25 October 2026.
- Same rules for everyone. One listed business is run by this directory’s publisher. It is counted the same way as every other listing.
- Updates: these figures are calculated from the live directory, so they change as listings are added or updated. Prices are re-checked separately.
- Using these figures: please cite “Find AI Consultants, State of AI consulting in Australia 2026” and link to this page. Download the coverage figures (CSV) or read how listings are checked.
